Ok, lets see. Why is WI protesting? Well, they are billions of dollars in debt, in a very heavily unionized state. A Tea Party back republican is swept into office, running on cutting spending and reducing debt. What does he do? Well, he proposes that teachers, wait, are you ready for this... Lose most of their collective bargaining rights! GASP OMG Teachers being evaluated on individual basis for preformance pay? You mean now there is a chance that those horrible teachers protected by tenure and doing just enough to get by (come on, how much would you do, really, if you couldn't get fired?) have a chance of losing their job? New, young teachers most concerned with us being 14th in the world for college grads can have a chance? Because if you ask me, teaching shouldn't be about protecting jobs for senior citizens (if they don't preform well) or poor teachers JUST BECAUSE they are in a union with collective bargaining. It should be a highly competitive job, with concern for our future generations.
So what happens? Organizing for America (illegally) organizes unions and buses in hundreds of teachers shutting down dozens of schools. Because a 3rd party encouraging you to break your contract IS illegal, and calling out "sick" to protest, IS breaking your contract. Who is thinking about these kids now?And all for what? For 200 dollars a month. 5% paid into their pension, and 12% of their health care (like the rest of us). In recent days "they" have claimed that is not the issue, but to lose the bargaining rights. As I have already outlined, you can see what that is a joke, propaganda created by our nanny state so you always think the private sector and capitalism is evil. There is also a vote to opt in or out of your union dues. You mean, I dont have to have forced representation by a group that I dont agree with and is doing nothing to benefit the children? Also BTW, elite does not = "capitol elite" I was thinking more along the line of ohh I dont know, philanthropist. Ever hear of this thing called double speak? They got you good.
And yes, wait for it, WI also recently waived capitol gains tax for the first 5 years if you relocate your company there and is producing bumper stickers that say "Move to WI" - so in 4 years we'll see how their job growth is going. As James Madison once said, "dont increase taxes, increase the tax base". (Or do you want to demonize the forefathers too). Where in any of this in WI do they talk about the children? Its disgusting. They should be the center of attention on this.
And I just have to say, in general I am shocked how capitalism is demonized in this country when it is the foundation for our nation and the American Dream. Before we became the nanny state we are today, who funded all the hospitals, schools and libraries? The elite, whom today we make out to be the enemy. But.. would you spend if you knew the govt was going to do it for you? Unlikely.
